January 27-31, 2014
This week we are learning the oo sound and our new sight word is here. Click here to print a copy of our new sight word tic, tic toe game. We now have our Daily 5 routine up and running. Students have a choice each day if they would like to read to self, listen to reading, do some word work or read to a partner. A small group of students are chosen to work with Mrs. Warman during this time. This week we will read a variety of books, including Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late by Mo Willems. Each day we will read Mortimer by Robert Munsch and on Friday we will re-tell the story. In writing we are learning to make our stories more interesting by adding lots of details.
January 13-17, 2014
This week we are continuing to learn the ee sound and during our read to self time this week we will have a choice to read to self, listen to reading, do some word work and we will be learning how to read with a partner. This week we will be reading Splat the Cat Goes Back to School by Rob Scotton, Alexander's Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems. In writing we are still writing on the lines and learning how to add more details. We are looking at how many words are in a sentence.
January 7-10, 2014
During our first week back we worked very hard. We are learing about the ee sound and we reviewed the sight word see. During read to self we reached our goal of reading for 20 minutes four times this week! We celebrated by watching fireworks! This week we read Pete the Cat I love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin and Snowday by Barbra Reid. This week we are learning how to write on the lines and to add more details into our sentences.
December 9-13, 2013
This week our sight word is and. We are still working on Read to Self. We read for 14 minutes! A student read It's Christmas David by David Shannon. We also read Look at Me by Robert Munsch. In writing we are still learning to write the letter sounds we hear and to make a detailed picture.
December 2-6, 2013
This week our sight is went. Ms. Creighton is helping us learn the Daily 5 routine. We are working on learning to Read to Self. Our goal is to read for 20 minutes. So far we have read for 12 minutes. Some students have been reading to the class. In writing we are still learning to write the letter sounds we hear and to make a detailed picture.
November 18-22, 2013
This week we are learning about the letters j,z,w. Our sight word is play and we are learning to stretch out the letters sounds in words in order to read the word. In writing we are still working on writing the letter sounds we hear in words. We are making words with the letters we have learned. All the book we read will be about nutrition. We have read I Will Never, Not Ever Eat a Tomato by Lauren Child.

like, a) and trying to write the first sound of the other words. We are also talking about monsters and our feelings. We have read the book I need my Monster by Amanda Noll in order to learn our sight word my for the week. Together we have been reading the poem My Monster.

Today we read The Thankful Book by Todd Parr, then we made a painting of ourselves in the same style as the illustrations from the book. Under the painting we wrote what we are thankful for.
